2 Project Finance Books you can’t live without.

What are the ‘good’ books on Project Finance?

I am often asked to recommend good books on Project Finance.  I can confirm they are out there …but are hard to find! 

I own and independently recommend both of the texts below and think they are better than more traditional texts which although still technically correct are quite dry and maybe not as up to date as they could be.

• Modern Project Financing “A Casebook” by Benjamin C. Esty
  
• Advanced Project Financing - Structuring Risk by Richard Tinsley

What Project Finance book should I purchase?

Modern Project Financing uses 25 chapters of really interesting case studies to explain practical concepts where Advanced Project Financing uses plenty of case studies to illustrate Tinsley’s own well known risk matrix approach.

Project Finance as an industry where experience is everything, so the ability to clearly articulate a situation and how risks were minimised are attributes that set both of these authors apart from the crowd.  

Oh and don’t be put off by the title of the later, its not so much advanced but does assume some level of experience in the project finance sector before reading.

Richard Tinsley versus Benjamin C. Esty

Esty is a professor and academic, Tinsley is a world renowned practitioner and lecturer so both provide different but infinitely well qualified points of view. Pack both for your next holiday now!
