Asia Mining Congress 2010

During March I have had the pleasure of speaking at the Australian Institute of Geo-scientists quarterly gathering in Brisbane to an unexpectedly large audience.

The 4 hour session focused on explaining how the gap between the technical approach that a geo would naturally take in evaluating the value of a mining resource and that taken by a project financier.

We covered a fair amount in a relatively short time from the interpretation of a mining plan (in a financial model rather than industry typical programmes) all the way through to the concepts of Project Advisory and the role of Mezzanine debt.

On 22 March I am presenting for a full day at the Asia Mining Congress 2010 in Singapore. In addition Navigator also has a half day Masterclass on the application of Real Option analysis and sovereign risk analysis.

This is the regions premier resources conference and attracts several thousand attendees from mining companies, consulting firms and of course the ever present Project Finance lenders contingent. This year the week long event is sponsored by a range of companies active in this sector, including ANZ, Deloitte, Patersons and global law firm Freehills.

As always I am looking forward to a timely catch up with contacts old and new and to learn more about who is doing what in a sector that is really bouncing back. Navigator's agenda can be found here.
